Traditional Farm Breakfast & Cooking Experience
Would you like to travel back in time for one of the most traditional cooking lessons you will ever experience? Sifnos, being the center of Cycladic gastronomy is the perfect destination for learning how to cook local Greek delicacies! You will have a chance to meet a very hospitable local who will teach you the secrets of authentic recipes that have been passed on among generations, exclusively using locally grown farm products from organic seeds and fruits of trees (like apricot and pear trees of “Vasilika” variety which are rare to find in the rest of the world nowadays).
The morning cooking class starts with the delicious Sifnian breakfast which includes Sifnos thyme honey, homemade marmalade jam, homemade cheese and eggs. After breakfast you will learn all about this three generations farm, we will discuss the history of Greek cuisine and how it evolved over the centuries and you will learn how to grow vegetables with no water. We will have fresh goat’s milk and we will show you how easily you can make ricotta at home with fresh milk that you can find on a farm in your area. You will be given a folder with the recipes of the day to take home with you and you will put your hands on preparing them in a traditional farmhouse cuisine.
While our meal is being cooked, we will indulge in some tsipouro – grappa with a surprise meze from Sifnos. Then we will go for a walk on the farm to see the crops, learn how to grow watermelons, melons, tomatoes, without a drop of water for 5-6 months, pick, and taste our fruits and vegetables. Next, we will visit our animals and feed them, before returning to the kitchen to sit around the table and enjoy our delicious homemade meal.
You will learn to prepare two salad dishes, two appetizers and two main courses, while a choice of local dry white or sweet sun-dried red wine will accompany your meal. For dessert you will be offered a selection of seasonal fruits grown exclusively from the farm’s organic seeds.
This tour is semi private for small groups of 2 – 16 persons (maximum) and is offered in English language
Children (6 – 10 years old) are welcome to participate with parental guidance.

Then, you will go for a walk around the farm to collect freshly picked products and return to the farmhouse to put your hands on preparing them in a traditional cuisine and savor a delicious meal, served in a traditional farmhouse dining area.
