Santorini Traditional Villages & Medieval Castle Walking Tour
If you wish to look beneath the surface and discover more of Santorini than its stunning Caldera and views of the Aegean Sea, this hiking experience will offer you a fresh perspective and reveal the hidden gems of Santorini while strolling through some of the most scenic and quiet villages of the island.
Begin your journey in Pyrgos, a picturesque village adorned with cobblestone streets and Cycladic architecture. Wander through its narrow alleys and discover the charm of this historic settlement.
On your way towards Megalochori, you will pass by beautiful mansions, pleasantly old-fashioned houses, abandoned neighborhoods and scenic traditional villages, that whisper tales of a bygone era. Marvel at the enchanting cave houses scattered along the route and feel the ancient spirit come alive as you encounter the remains of Medieval Castle, the silent witnesses of the island’s history.
Stroll into the countryside to meet locals living and working amidst Santorini’s stunning landscapes and learn about professions that have faded into the years, and the way of life that once thrived on the island, before being vanished by a massive earthquake. Finally, you will visit Symposio, a cultural hub inspired by the nine muses of Greek mythology, offering an immersive experience of music, art, and mythology. Alternatively, if you have a preference in wine, we can tailor your experience to include a delightful visit to a family-owned winery to taste some award-winning wine.
Take this trip back in time and let the aura of Santorini’s authentic villages enhance your senses.
On Mondays, when Symposio is closed, we can arrange either a visit and a delightful lunch at the winery or a relaxed picnic in Megalochori Square, at your discretion.
This tour is private for small groups of 1 – 8 persons and is offered in English and
Greek language. For larger private groups (up to 25 persons) prices are available on request.
Children (above 8 years old) are welcome to participate with parental guidance.
