Castles Hunt & History of Andros Sightseeing Tour
Prepare for an adventure through the rugged landscapes and storytelling history of Andros as we embark on a Castle hunt tour.
Starting from Chora, we will head to Korthi Bay and drive all the way to the top of the mountain, stopping at the village of Kochylou. Above the village we see the castle of Faneromeni or also known as the upper castle, which was built by the Venetians dominating the Cyclades islands, right after the lower castle in Chora was constructed (early 1200 AC). Climb the stone steps and wander through the crumbling walls as you imagine the castle’s former glory. Admire the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and feel the whispers of history echoing through the air.
Our next stop is Episkopeio village with its medieval paths and stone buildings. Nestled in a valley surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, Episkopeio exudes a rustic charm with traditional Greek hospitality. We will walk through the main path to the Bridge of Love, to admire the scenery resembling the feeling of being on the Greek mainland. From there we will be able to see one of the many water springs of the island and the local watermill, once used for making flour.
Finally, we will reach Korthi Bay, where we will stroll on the main pedestrian street, and can enjoy a stop for snack, coffee or cold beverage at one of the traditional cafes.
This tour is semi-private with minimum number of participants 8 and is offered in English and Greek language or it can be arranged privately for up to 4 persons.
Children (4 – 11 years old) and infants are welcome to participate with parental guidance.
